Details

TG 2208 NE GUILDHALL HILL (north side) (formerly listed under Market Place) 15/365 26.2.54 31.1.70 Nos. 6, 7, 8A and 9 GV II Shops. Early C18. Red brick, painted over Nos. 6 to 8A. Plain tiles. L-shape plan. 3 storeys. 9 bays, the centre 3 project. 4 C20 shopfronts. Central passage-way. Sash windows with glazing bars except in top left-hand 2 bays. Rubbed brick flat arches over right-side windows. Casement windows at left-side first floor. Eared surround with pediment to first floor central window. Small canted oriel window above. Rusticated quoins. Elaborate modillion cornice replaced by simple paired modillions over 2 left-hand bays. Central gabled dormer and 5 small flat roofed dormers. Hipped roof. 4 bay range to the rear of No. 9 forms the east side of a courtyard.
