Two town houses, now hotel. No.12 of 1832-4, No.13 of c1840; later alterations and additions joining the 2 houses and to left and rear. Stucco with ashlar dressings; hipped slate roof with rebuilt brick stacks. Pilaster strips and wide eaves. 2 double-fronted houses with connecting block, and addition to left. Regency style. 2 storeys; 2+3-window range, 3-window connecting range and symmetrical 3-window range. 2 entrances with Doric aedicules with triglyph friezes and guttae, overlight to glazed door to No.12, 4-panel door to No.13. Windows have sills and 12-pane sashes, those to No.12 with architraves, those to ground floor with consoled cornices; those to No.13 have consoled cornices. Connecting block has projecting ground floor with platt band over round-headed windows with keys and small-paned glazing, central glazed door; 1st floor has 12-pane sashes. Part of the early C19 development of the north part of Stratford. (Information from Shakespeare Birthplace Trust Record Office).
