LYDNEY CHURCH ROAD SO 60 SW (east side) 7/99 Monument to MORFE FAMILY in the churchyard c6m north of nave north wall of the church of St Mary - II Pedestal tomb. Mid C18. Sandstone. 'Tent' top to moulded edge with reserved corners, bolstered ends, flat side panels, moulded base. North side has date 1763, south records '... son of Richard and Sarah Morfe, 21 July 1785 aged 11 days, Also daughter Ann, 1787 aged 1 year and 11 months, and George their son 1793 aged 5 years.' A characteristic record illuminating infant mortality in the eighteenth century. Lies c3.5 metres north-east of the porch.
