Details
AYLBURTON HIGH STREET SO 60 SW (east side) 7/16 No 71 - II Farmhouse, sometime Butchers Arms Inn, now dwelling. C16 with much C19 and later modification. Rendered rubble, some walls reputed to be in cob, steeply pitched roof with double roman tile, large external eaves stack on south wall. A long narrow property set gable to street, 3-cell, with later addition north side, formerly a cross passage. Street gable has small 2-light C19 casement and small C20 casement; south front is 2-storey, 3-windowed, with stack, 3 small 2-light C19 casements over one 3-light similar, central door and C20 steel casement; east gable includes small square light in wood frame and north front has very small 2-light C19 casement over very wide and low C19 door. Interior includes moulded stone cheeked C16 fireplace under very large bressummer, some flag floors and some C19 quarry tile, wind-braced roof structure (not seen). Walls up to 800mm thick.
