8/95 Bell's Old Grammar School (formerly listed as Old Grammar 12.12.53 School under Newland)

Former school, now house. c1638. Rubble stone with large dressed stone quoin blocks, asbestos slate roof, coped verges, stone stack on left end, brick stack to extension. T-shape with single long range and small extension. 2 storeys and attic window in gable end. 4 windows, 2-light stone mullions to first floor, paired casements with stone lintels to ground floor. Corner of T- shape has 2 oak boarded doors. Right hand gable has a vertical row of three 3-light arched stone mullioned windows with hood moulds and decorative label stops. Coat of arms of founder of school, Edward Bell, above ground floor window with Latin inscription and date 1638.
