9/112 Former vicarage south-west of Church of St. Cuthbert

GV II

Vicarage, now private house. Dated 1834 over door. Coursed squared sandstone with ashlar dressings, plinth and quoins; Welsh slate roof with stone gable coping and ashlar chimneys. Irregular plan. 2 storeys, 4 bays, the left under front gable; late C19 one-storey, one-bay addition in front of second bay.

Small shaped gable over third bay, which contains partly-glazed door in 3-centred- arched chamfered surround in corniced panel; date in Gothic numerals in recessed panel over door. Stone-mullioned windows, 3-light except for 2-light above door; slightly-projecting first bay has narrow glazed door and sidelights in similar style, 3-light window above and single light in gable peak. All windows have recessed chamfers. Roof has moulded kneelers supporting gable copings; corniced ridge and end chimneys with plinths and strings. Second-bay addition has paired sashes with vertical glazing bars under hipped roof.

Left return has canted bay at left, and paired sashes on first floor.
