SOUTHAM WARWICK ROAD SP4161 (South side) 13/85 The Abbey 07/01/52 (Formerly listed as The Abbey with Stone entrance piers)

GV II

House. Early C17 with C18 and early C19 alterations and additions. Squared coursed lias and brick in English bond and Flemish bond. Slate roof with stone ridge stacks, and brick end stacks on stone bases. Probably originally an L-shaped plan. 2 storeys plus attic; 3-window range of 3-light casements in rendered Dutch gables which are probably C19. Panelled/glazed door to centre has fluted pilaster surround with dentilled pediment. Right gable end has 2 large stacks of C17/C18 brick in English bond, offsets with stone coping. C18 sashes and panelled/glazed door to rear. Interior: large spine beams with stepped stops and large open fireplace to ground floor. C17 queen-post roof, some joiners numerals visible. C17 straight-flight baluster staircase. Some C17 plank doors in attic, and some C18 cupboards to all floors.
