PITTON AND FARLEY TOWNSEND, Pitton So. 23 SW (east side) 7/136 Church Farmhouse II
Farmhouse. Early C17. Timber framed with brick infilling, thatched roof. Single storey and attic, 3 1/2 bays. Lobby entry plan with entrance, a boarded door, to left of centre bay. Framing of heavy scantling, 3 panels high, with corner braces, forming horizontal rectangles. Left half bay added late C17 in square framing. Iron casement windows of early C19. Three flush dormers. Roof half hipped to right and hipped over left extension. Left bays framed on rear, remainder replaced in brick. Interior has central brick and chalk stack, with oven to left room, projecting to rear, and cambered chamfered lintel. Stair against stack in lobby. Spine beams with step and scoop stops. Roof has raking struts to collars and clasped purlins, and windbraces to end trusses only. (RCHM survey)
