MIRFIELD UD DUNBOTTLE LANE SE 22 SW (Mirfield)

2/118 Over Hall 14/3/66 formerly listed as Over Hall & Outbuilding) II

Detached house. Dated 1721 though earlier origin. Extensive C19 alterations. Hammer dressed stone, thinly coursed in parts. Rusticated ashlar quoins. 3-gabled slate roof with gable copings on big moulded kneelers. 2 storeys. The entrance front is of 3 bays, each gabled, the centre gable stepped. Straight joint between central and left bays. Central stone and glass porch, probably C20. Large tripartite window to left and right, with raised surround, cornice and glazing bars. 1st floor windows are single light with raised surround, and cornice to centre light. All with sashes and glazing bars. To left is a fragment of an earlier double chamfered window with transom. 4-bay garden front with sash windows as before. Double door, panelled and with ashlar tripartite panel above, with fielded panels, the central one con- taining a sundial with iron gnomon and painted face with S R H 1721 One window to right has been altered to later doorway. Recent addition to rear.
