No 4 (Moorside Farmhouse) and adjoining SE 1528 64/189 barn

2. Early to mid C19 refronting and doubling of early C18 farmhouse which survives in part to rear. The front to road is of 2 storeys, sandstone bricks with bracketted eaves to stone slate roof, corniced chimneys. Three windows, revealed sashes and plain doorway. The original farmhouse forms the rear half and is of 2 storeys, irregularly coursed gritstone with large quoins. Stone slate roof. Date stone inscribed J R (John Rookes) 1700. Two window, mullions removed, and one with splayed reveals on ground floor. Mocked 2 light chamfered mullion window to gable end. Late C18 barn at right angle to house, large sandstone blocks, stone slate roof; crown post roof structure; arrow/slit ventilators. Bier/mistal adjoins.
