Large Classical County Court building. Late C19. Rusticated ashlar with alternate courses vermiculated at ground floor level. Hipped slate roof with tall eaves stack with bracketed cornice. 2½ storeys with dentilled cornice over ground floor and plain cornice over 1st floor. 6 bays. Very broad eaves cornice on long consoles which are the full height of the ½ storey, between which are small rectangular windows. Doorway to left above which is Royal coat of arms. Ground floor windows and fanlight over doorway have shallow segmental heads with long keystones supporting the ground floor cornice whose frieze is inscribed in capitals: DEWSBURY COUNTY COURT. The windows are
in architraves and have apron and raised sill band on consoles. 1st floor casement windows are round arched with guilloche treatment and have pilaster jambs. 3-bay sides with semi-circular windows. Hipped roof 2-storey lower addition to rear of similar date with ashlar, 2-bay arcaded portico with broad bracketed cornice and blocking course.
