SE32SE WARMFIELD-CUM-HEATH KIRKTHORPE LANE (west side, off)
Group of 9 grave 1/99 tablets approx. 15m east of east end of Church of St. Peter
GV II
9 grave slabs. c1814 to 1818. Ashlar memorials to a group of Benedictine Nuns. That to left inscribed "Emilia Monteiro, Born at Lisbon Died July 3d 1816 Aged 15"
Others bear initials only and "O.S.B." the initials of the order, under which are dates of decease and the letters "R.I.P." All are rectangular with curved corners and have a Maltese cross in relief.
These are the graves of a contingent of Benedictine Nuns who left France on the 17th October, 1792. They resided at Heath Old Hall from 1811 to 1821 where there were approx. 42 Nuns besides novices, pupils, servants and outdoor employees (approx. 80 in all). The names of all the Nuns are recorded in the parish register.
