SARSDEN SP22SE 7/180 Parsonage Farmhouse

Farmhouse. Mid-C18 with later additions and alterations. Roughly coursed limestone rubble; artificial stone slate roof. 2 storeys and attic. 3-light C19 casements with wood lintels on each floor to left and right of central plank door under C20 open hip-roofed porch. Two C20 hip-roofed dormers in roof slope. Integral end stacks, right of double thickness, both with plain capping. 2 tie beam ends visible below eaves. Interior. Right ground-floor room has chamfered spine beam with run-out stops. Inglenook fireplace with bread oven to left (semi-circular projection visible in rear range) and plank-door cupboard to right. Panelled cupboard to back wall. Reused square and rectangular oak panelling in cross wall to left of entrance, left room with chamfered spine beam. Plank door to oak winder staircase in front right corner of right room continuing to attic. Chamfered cross beam ceilings with run-out stops to first floor. Plank doors throughout, some with wooden latches. Collar truss roof in 3 bays with single butt-purlins, additional collars laid on purlins and vertical stud wall to centre. Range at right-angles to rear on right largely rebuilt in late C20 and lean-to to main range in angle between are not of special architectural interest. [2630]
