House. Mid C17 with early mid C18 enlargement and alteration. Hammer-dressed stone, ashlar dressings to C18 extension, stone slate roofs. 2 storeys. L-shaped originally with added C18 wing, now T-shaped. Earliest house has double-chamfered mullioned windows to unusual 3-cell plan : 1st cell has 2- light with same above and Tudor-arched doorway with chamfered surrounds; 2nd cell has 3-light with 2-light above; 3rd cell has 7-light with 4-light above; dripmould with heart- shaped stops over ground-floor window of 2nd and 3rd cells. Roof raised 2 courses, stone gutter brackets. Stack to left gable and one other ridge stack. C18 wing at right-angles to 3rd cell has doorway with monolithic jambs and 2-light flat- faced mullioned window above. Rear of this range is new south- east facing front. Gabled wing to left has rusticated quoins, band and moulded cornice forming pedimented gable; 3 bays of cross-windows with flat-faced recessed mullions which have an inner chamfer; doorway with architrave and 2-light overlight in 3rd bay. 2 ridge stacks, stack at junction with earlier house which has different masonry to 1st floor with C18 windows and quoins to wing at lst-floor level. 2 C17 cells have quoins to right; double-chamfered mullioned windows to ground floor only, originally transomed but now with taller replaced mullions, under dripmould with carved stops: 2-light fire-window, 6-light window with king-mullion; two 2-light windows with doorway with monolithic jambs inserted between. lst-floor has four 2-light windows. Large external stack to right gable.

Interior : housebody (of west range) has fireplace with large segmental-arch and chamfered surround, 2 chamfered spine beams with ogee stops and C17 staircase with finely turned balusters and newel with slender handrail, oak panelled wall to underside. Other rooms have chamfered beams. Chambers over have queen-post roof. Junction with south-east range is reported to have timber- framed gable wall now covered. C18 wing has 2 panelled rooms one of oak the other of pine with large raised-and-fielded panels, bolection-moulded fireplace with fine set of Delft tiles of equestrian subjects; open-well staircase has egg-cup-turned balusters and moulded handrail and newels. Central room of south-east front altered internally C18, has 2 opposing doorways with stone bolection- moulded surrounds matching that of fireplace. Chamber over has square, painted panelling.
