Details

LINTON MAIN STREET SD 9862-9962 (north side) 12/53 Tythe Barn 10.9.54 GV II Barn and outbuildings. C17 with C18 extension and alterations. Coursed rubble, graduated stone slate roof. Approximately 7 bays long with lean-to cart porch bay 2; 2-bay addition to right not of special interest. Board double doors to inner doorway, bay 2; board door in chamfered quoined surround bay 5; a board door in triangular-headed opening with chamfered quoined surround to bay 6; board door bay 7 in the blocking of a C17 cart entrance with quoined jambs and massive flat-arched tripartite lintel composed of a central joggled keystone flanked by cantilevered blocks. A 2-light recessed chamfered mullion window to first floor bay 6; a square opening below and to left, both with plain surrounds. 3 tiers of round- headed vents. Remains of gable coping left. Left return: end byre doors in chamfered quoined surround, central square mucking-out door. A small doorway with chamfered quoined surround in the gable. 3 tiers of 3 scaffolding holes or vents. Interior: C18 reroofing with braced queen- strut trusses.
