NZ 1406-1506 KIRBY HILL VILLAGE GREEN (north side)

18/55 Fawcett memorial approximately 14 metres west of tower of Church of St Peter and St Felix

GV II

Tombstone. c1804. Ashlar sandstone. Slab with scrolled top with an acanthus-leaf sunburst in central scroll flanked by paterae in side scrolls. Inscription commemorates John Fawcett, d1804, a soldier in the Fourth or King's Own Regiment of Foot, who fought at the Battle of Culloden in 1746 and died at the age of 94. The stone was erected by the Order of the Blue and Orange.
