Details

WORMSLEY CP - SO 44 NW 4/85 Hawk's Nest 20.2.53 - II House. Probably C17 with C18 and early C20 alterations. Sandstone rubble with sandstone dressings. Tiled roof and large sandstone rubble side stacks with brick shafts. Rectangular plan aligned west-south-west/east-north-east. Two storeys and attic. South elevation has one central window, a 2-light leaded casement, probably early C20, placed centrally between large external stacks and supported by a large oak beam. Beneath the beam is a recessed entry with ledged door. Gables have three rows of narrow mullioned windows with four lights to the attic and eight to the two other floors. The mullions are square and have moulded dripstones. Projecting purlins and ridge piece. Interior inaccessible at time of re-survey (February 1987), noted by RCHM as having various timbers, noteworthy truss and parts of an early C18 stair- case. (RCHM, Vol III, p 215).
