4/48 Isington Mill

Former water-mill, with attached oasts, all now converted to a dwelling. Early and mid-C19, with C20 restoration. Brick walls, with roof of tile and slate. The old mill is a rectangular block of 2 storeys and attic; plain tile roof with 2 dormers, brick dentil eaves, red brick walls in English bond, casement windows, and cambered arch above the mill race. A cross wing of 3 storeys at the north end links to a coupled oast house block, the cross wing has a tile roof, the casts have steep pyramid roofs of slate, with ventilation caps; walls are of painted brickwork, casements.

The building was the home of Field Marshal Viscount Montgomery of Alamein.
