SHERBORNE SHERBORNE VILLAGE SP 1714 9/216 Nos 47 and 48 and adjoining walls 2.8.83 GV II

Pair of estate cottages. Early C19. Coursed squared and dressed limestone. Concrete tile roof. Ashlar stacks set on plinths. Two stacks restored C20. Rectangular plan with later lean-tos at rear. Symmetrical facades to each cottage. 1 1/2 storeys. Four half dormers to first floor with stone-mullioned casements. Four 2-light stone-mullioned casements with stopped hoods to ground floor. C20 part-glazed door to No 47, C20 plank door with fillets to No 48. Flat stone canopies supported on moulded brackets over doors. Gable-end and axial stacks. Flat coping at gable ends and to dormers. Moulded kneelers. Interiors not inspected. Coursed squared and dressed limestone wall 2-3.5m in height at right angles to gable ends linking No 47 to No 46 and No 48 to No 49. (No 48, property of the National Trust).
