Cottage. 1848 by F.O'Connor for the National Co-operative Land Company: later alterations. Monk bond brickwork, stone plinth, slate roof. Three-room front, one room deep, leanto to rear, single storey. Front to road: rendered reveals and flat, rubbed brick arches to all openings. Centre room projects slightly: late C20 fully-glazed door, up 3 steps: either side 8-pane, single-light casement. Plain string course and projecting verge to gable: quatrefoil vent; verge rafters on consoles at foot. Two-light casement windows, small panes, in wings; double oversailing eaves course. Centre rear and gable chimneys, but top of right gable chimney removed. A little altered example: originally with 2-acre holding. Listed principally for historical and sociological interest: forms group with other Chartist cottages (q.v.). (A.M. Hadfield, The Chartist Land Company, 1970.)
