9/195 Gate screen approximately 18m south of Pitchcombe House

GV II

Four piers with gateway and screen. Circa 1740 for Thomas Palling. Ashlar limestone; timber gates and screen. Each pier has moulded cap and gadrooned urn finial, 2 crowned by small pineapples, outer 2 with grenades. Round-fronted stone steps lead to central double-leaf timber gates. Decorative screen fencing is a replacement for the original C18 design. Stands on axis with Pitchcombe House (q.v.). (D. Verey Gloucestershire: The Cotswolds, 1979)
