3/194 Kitchen wing, walls and outbuilding 30 metres south of Unthank Hall II
Kitchen wing, outbuilding and yard wall, c.1860 by Dobson, with re-set C16 features. (The linking range to the main house was demolished 1965). Rock- faced masonry with dressings, slate roof. South front (to road) 2 storeys, 1 and 2 bays. Left bay has 2-light mullioned windows and coped gable with moulded kneelers; steeply-pitched roof with stepped and heavily-corniced stack to right end and finial to left. Slightly lower section to right has varied fenestration and stepped ridge stack; at right end 2-storey lean-to with external stone stair. Left return shows re-set C16 fireplace with segmental joggled lintel. Outbuilding alongside road; elevation towards yard shows re-set doorway and 2 windows, all with roll-moulded surrounds. Rectangular flagged yard between wing and outbuilding has gateway on west which has square piers with pyramidal caps. Link walls from piers to wing and to outbuilding hold balustrade with terracotta balusters.
