II
Former farmhouse now divided into 2 dwellings. House late C18, altered later C19, extended and tower built 1938. House squared stone with ashlar front; tower rubble with cut quoins and dressings, largely re-used from the former Ninebanks Mill; some dressings from St. Peter's Church in Newcastle. Slate roof. House 2 storeys, 4 bays, the left bay an addition of 1938. 12-pane sash windows, with projecting sills, ground floor 2nd and 3rd sashes renewed, the latter in former door position. Tooled and margined dressings largely re-tooled when the house was faced with ashlar in the mid C19. Copy sashes in left bay. Projecting eaves on wooden brackets. Stepped stone right end stack, ridge stack (originally left end) rebuilt in brick on old base. To left set slightly forward, 3-storey tower with mullioned windows and parapet with moulded cornice (c.f. Ninebanks Tower). Rear elevation has 12-pane sashes and gabled later C19 wing. Interior has 6-panel doors, panelled shutters, fireplace with chamfered stone surround, simple stair with grip handrail and stick balusters.
