SHERBORNE - SP 11 SE 4/162 Hill Barn and adjoining outbuildings II
Barn, shelter sheds and stable. Mid C19. Limestone rubble with dressed stone quoins. Slate roof. Rectangular plan to barn with projecting porch on east side. Three-sided courtyard formed by open-fronted store and stables on west side of barn. Barn with lean-to porch on east, gabled porch on west with lean-tos either side. Pitching window in south gable end. Ventilation slits in east wall. Single-storey open-fronted store at north-west corner with 5 open bays divided by cast iron piers. Stables in west side of courtyard. Two storeys with stable door at centre on ground floor with keystone. Stone steps to right, up to loft. Single light windows with stone jambs left of door and right of steps. Flat coping at gable ends of barn and stables. Barn interior; 5 bays with original collar and tie trusses (rafters replaced C20).
