GV II

Early C18 house converted to reading room 1887. Squared stone; pantile roof except for Welsh slates on rear outshut. Single storey (upper floor removed 1887) 5 bays, slightly irregular. Centre flush-panelled door under gabled hood on moulded brackets. 12-pane sash windows with former first-floor band above. Coped gables on moulded kneelers; corniced end stacks, probably re-set. Interior: Reading Room in west part is a good early C18 panelled room with dado rail, cornice, panelled and fluted pilasters flanking fireplace with corniced overmantel, and 2-panel door in bolection-moulded surround with pulvinated frieze. To right of fireplace is a shell-headed cupboard with shaped shelves. Panelled round arch, with imposts and fluted key block, from entrance passage to outshut (former stair position). The part east of the entrance passage is now used as bedrooms for The Cottage, the adjacent single-storeyed dwelling which is otherwise not of special interest.
