Details
SOUTH PETHERWIN - SX28SE Tregillys Famhouse 1/19 II Farmhouse. Probably C17, remodelled and extended in C18 and C19. Slate rubble, west gable end partly slate hung. Dry slate roof with gabled ends. Gable end and axial stone stacks, axial stack to right of centre rendered and with weathered cap. 4 room and central cross-passage plan, lower end to right (east), 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 5-window south front, gabled projection at centre, set back section on left. Various 1,2 and 3-light C20 casements, mostly with glazing bars. Boarded and glazed doors at either end of front and in central projection slate sundial in central gable. Interior: Centre right hand (east) room has large fireplace with monolithic granite jambs and stopped chamfer timber lintel. Room to left of centre has fireplace with replaced lintel. Left hand room has blocked fireplace. Lower right hand room not inspected. Kitchen in rear wing has C19 segmented arch fireplace. Staircase at back of passage has closed string, large turned balusters, square newels with moulded bun-shaped ball finials and heavy moulded handrail. First floor and roof-space not inspected.
