4/23 Stable Block c 40 yards West of Fowberry Tower

Stable block. C18. Coursed and dressed stone with slate roof. Buildings round 3 sides of a quadrangle closed on 4th side by garden wall (q.v.). Entrance front has projecting centre bay with open pediment and a stone ridge chimney stack with overhanging cornice, square casement left and right, the right one trompe l'oeil, then high round entrance arch left and lower blocked arch right.
In yard: carriage house to right with dovecote above and renewed pyramid roof, higher hay shed opposite entrance and low C20 lean-to sheds to left, leaning against garden wall.
C20 sheds not of special interest.
