SEATON SLUICE THE HARBOUR NZ 3376 14/109 Basin, slip and outlet walls at Seaton Sluice GV II Harbour walls, originally constructed c.1660 by Sir Ralph Delaval, with later alterations and repairs. Squared stone. Revetment walls with various iron mooring rings. At landward end of basin are the abutments of the old bridge; lower courses show slot for 1690 sluice gate, installed to build up head of water for scouring out silt from harbour.

Port superseded by Blyth in C19; last shipment of coal 1861. Listed for historical interest.
