Details
PAINSWICK HALE LANE SO 8609/8709 (west side) 7/122 Retaining wall in garden adjoining and to east of Court House GV II Garden wall acting as retainer at change of level. Probably C18. Brick and limestone, saddle-back coping, series of 5 brick buttresses. Runs about 18 m to east and returns south about 5 m; height about 3 m on lower side and c/m at upper side. Adjoins south east corner of house, opening with piers and ball finials at head of set of 11 semicircular steps near house. On the return wall an arched opening with a planked door, and a blocked 2-light hollow mould case- ment.
