Three headstones, forming line, Lane family, 1745 and two c1800.
Stone. First, against church, W. Lane, died 1745. Triangular
head; sunk oval with 3 winged cherub's heads, and sunlight, set in
pediment with sagging base, supported on Corinthian columns, all
save sunk oval in very low relief. Good lettering. Adjoining to
north very wide headstone, W. Lane died 1799, wife 1800. Swept
top, scalloped corners: 3 winged cherub's heads in clouds, and
dove, urns in corners, scrolls and foliage each side, panels
divided by very curious column, all very low relief. To left
William Lane, died 1808. Curved top, scrolls at foot, angels left
and centre head. Time on right, serpent of eternity in top
corners, with ribbons, hanging sheaves, sickles etc., down sides.
Paved section behind over burials, with footstones. Interesting
family group relating to wall monument on north wall of church
(q.v.).
