CHEDWORTH CHEDWORTH VILLAGE SP 0511 11/54 Cromwell House 23.1.52 GV II

Detached house. Late C16-early C17 with C20 lean-to extensions. Limestone rubble with dressed stone quoins; stone slate roof with ashlar stacks. Long rectangular plan with cross-gabled west end set at a higher level in comparison with the rest of the building. Two storeys and attic. North (entrance) front with a forward facing gable far right. Single-light, 2 and 3-light ovolo-moulded stone-mullioned casements (one C20) with stopped hoods; one 2- light flat-chamfered casement C20 entrance porch, in the form of a combined lean-to and projecting gabled porch, off-centre right with a C20 studded plank door. Left gable end (facing road): C20 three-light flat-chamfered stone-mullioned casement to the ground floor; two 2-light ovolo-moulded stone-mullioned casements to the first floor and attic. South front with gable far left. Fenestration at rear similar to that of the entrance front but with two slate-hung roof dormers to the attic. Axial and lateral stacks with moulded cappings. Interior not inspected.
