11/49 No. 1 (The Old House) 26.1.56 GV II*

Attached House. Refronted in early C18, earlier core. Brick walls, on an ashlar stone plinth, brick plat band and heavy wooden dentil cornice. Walls painted pink. Slate roofs, with stone gable-coping at south end. Rebuilt stack at north end. Two storeys. 4 windows to front, tripartite-sashes with moulded flush frames and wood cills. 3-light wood casements to first floor, wood cills. Front door, left of centre, with recess panels and upper lights, reeded pilaster framing with plain entablature and dentil cornice, C18. Porch carried on Roman Doric stone columns, with heavy wooden segmental shell- hood over, carved with raised shell and mask, C18. Long wing to rear, with rubble-stone walls and tiled roofs. Brick stack on rear gable. Two storeys, mixture of 2- and 3-light wood casements with lead lights, wood cills, C18 wing. Interior: "one room is lined with early C18 bolection-moulded panelling, and there is a fireplace and overmantel of similar character on the first floor. There is also some later C18 panelling and a staircase of the same period."
