to lodge, Guiting Stud

Gate piers, wall and gates. Mid C19. Ashlar limestone piers and
walling, wrought iron gates. 3 pairs of square gate piers. One
pair flanking central double entrance, the others flanking single
entrances. Wall continues forwards in curve on right with piers
at either end and runs for a short distance to left of entrances
then back at right angles to lodge. Piers with moulded sunken
rectangular panels. Moulded caps with decorative brackets below.
Square capping stones. Linking walls with incised horizontal
joints. Decorative wrought iron gates incorporating the initial
W, probably the initial of the Waddingham family. Formerly acted
as main gate to the C19 Italianate house built by John Waddingham
(now demolished).
