6/27 The Old Rectory (formerly listed as The Rectory), with boundary 20.11.59 walls

GV II

Former rectory, now private house used partly as a residential home. Original building C17, enlarged to north and east in C19. Original section has rubble stone walls, stone slate roof, brick end stack. 2 storeys. On garden front, ground floor has two 3-light and two 2-light stone mullioned windows with hoodmoulds and sashes. First floor has 4 similar 2-light windows. Right of this, an early - mid C19 2-storeyed extension, at higher level, with rubble stone walls, stone slate roof, brick end stacks. This has, on ground floor, a pair of French doors and one fixed window. First floor has one sash window with centre glazing bar. Large, later C19, 2-storeyed extension on north, forms entrance front. Rock-faced ashlar walls and slate roof. 2 stone stacks rising from eaves. Panelled door and fanlight in segmental pointed arch, with hoodmould. Ground floor has 3 sash windows with glazing bars under stone lintols and relieving arches. First floor has 4 sash windows with glazing bars. C20 single-storey stone extension at left end. Internally, original section has large fireplace with bread oven, part built up. Rubble stone boundary walls at front and side, with flat stone coping. RCHM Monument 5 (Dorset Vol II).
