Manor house. Late C16 or early C17 extended in C19, modernised in late C20.Coursed and roughly dressed slatestone walls. Gabled slate roof. 3 rubble stacks to front range, one axial and one at each gable end, also one to central rear gable. Axial stack to single storey rear wing.
Plan: slightly unusual variation on 3-room-and-through-passage plan. Larger room to left of passage with smaller room to the right, both heated by fireplaces in the end wall. At the far right end is a further very narrow room. At the rear of the passage is another heated room in a short wing. In front of the passage is a full-height porch. Considerable internal alterations have taken place and there is now no passage but one large room at the left-hand side of the house. A series of rather complex additions were made behind this left-hand end at various stages up to the early C20 including an entrance stairhall. Single storey service wing extends to rear of left-hand end.
Exterior: 3 storeys. Symmetrical 5-window front with small gable over each top storey window, and with central 3 storey porch. Stone eaves cornice and plinth. All late C20 casement windows of 2, 3 and 4-lights with single top-opening lights to top storey. Porch has roundheaded South Hams arched doorway with glazed C20 doors behind. Circa late C19 conservatory at right-hand end of house. In the left-hand projection at the side of the house is an ovolo-moulded wooden doorframe dated 1674. Single storey service wing extends to the rear. From the left-hand end of the front wall a stone garden wall extends with another round arched doorway.
Interior: much altered in late C20 but simple late C17 moulded plaster ceiling with circular garland is preserved in room to right of porch.
