LANGLEY WITH HARDLEY - TG 387 024 3/41 Hardley Windpump
- II
Derelict drainage windpump. Dated TWBPB 1874 on eastern side. Red brick with remains of timber cap. Battered tower of four storeys, circular on plan. Window openings with segmental arched heads; wooden frames remain, sashes missing. Segmental headed doorway on north side, repaired in C20 brick, with ledged and boarded door. One ground floor window opening blocked. Cast iron spreader plates to floor beam ends. Brick lined sluice on eastern side with semicircular arched opening in base of tower to turbine chamber. Remains of cap frame: no windshaft. Interior: square wooden upright shaft with chamfered corners, cast iron wallower and spur wheel. Internal turbine in circular brick chamber with separate gear train.
