TL 83 NW GREAT MAPLESTEAD GESTINGTHORPE ROAD 2/91 Byham Hall 7.8.52 GV II
House. C15 or earlier. Timber framed and plastered with red brick facing. Red plain tiled roofs. Red brick chimney stacks to each rear wing. Half H plan. The front elevation has hipped roof. 2 storeys. 3 window range of small paned vertical sliding sashes first floor, 2 range to ground floor of 3 light vertical sliding sashes. Central 2 panel door with 4 lights. Moulded surround. C20 red tiled gabled porch. Exposed beams internally including arched braces to the main tie beams in both crosswings. Originally crown post construction to these wings. The original timbers are heavily sooted. Cambered collar beams to main block. Dado of C16 panelling in ground floor room. RCHM 3.
