HODNET C.P. A442 (East side) SJ 53 SE SJ 5829-5929 1/42 and 11/42 Slip Farmhouse - - II

Farmhouse, now house. Mid-C17. Timber framed with plastered infill panels. C20 concrete tile roof. Framing: square panels (3 from sole plate to wall plate) with short corner braces and long straight tension braces. 3 framed bays. One storey and attic. Brick ridge stack off-centre to left and integral brick end stack to right. Large C17 timber framed dormer off-centre to right with V-struts in gable and C20 four-light diamond-leaded casement, and small gabled dormer off- centre to left with C20 two-light diamond-leaded casement. 4-window front; 1-, 2- and 3-light diamond-leaded wooden casements. Left-hand gable end with C20 boarding and one-storey rendered lean-to with integral brick stack. Right-hand gable end has collar and tie-beam truss with queen struts and V-struts. Entrance at rear. Interior: square- panelled timber framed cross walls. Chamfered ceiling beams with run-out stops. Right-hand room with large open fireplace consisting of chamfered wooden lintel and reveals with ogee stops. Winder stair at rear of right-hand stack. C17 fireplace in left-hand ground-floor room. The slight irregularity in the framing suggests that the left- hand bay is a later C17 addition (see also corner fireplace).
