Manor house, now house. Early C17 with later additions and alterations,
reduced to rear in late C20. Red brick (mixed bond); slate roofs with
coped verges and pointed stone finials to gables. Original H-plan
with C19 service ranges demolished in late C20. 2 storeys and attics
with plain band immediately below eaves carried across to attics of gables.
Cellar under right wing. 1:2:1 windows; C19 wooden mullioned and transomed
windows with gauged heads, including to attics. Central entrance; C20
glazed door in moulded stone surround with armorial shield above. External
lateral stacks with dentilled bands to top of bases and to capping, rear
right with top removed; those to right are original, those to left are
later additions. Similar external lateral stack to back wall has C20
red brick top. Interior: centre room on ground floor has complete late
C17 bevelled rectangular panelling, partly renewed. Moulded and plastered
cross-beam ceiling. C20 flat-roofed addition to rear is not of special
architectural interest. The house is said to have been built in 1628.
