Riverford Bridge

II

Road Bridge over River Dart. Circa early C19 with late C19 alterations. Cement
washed stone rubble. Three large spans with elliptical arches with rusticated
granite voussoirs. Rusticated granite piers at the springing of the arches. Cut-
waters on splayed piers with refuges in parapet above. Stringcourse at road level
Parapet with plain granite coping. The parapets at the north cast end were raised
in circa 1872 when the railway bridge, attached at that end, was built. Also known
as Hood or Emmets Bridge. Described as "comparatively modern" by Henderson and
Jervoise, Old Devon Bridges, page 35.

The asset was previously listed twice also at List entry 1107390. This entry was removed from the List on 25th July 2016.

This entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 25th July 2016.
