Details
TF 48 SE NORTH RESTON CHURCH LANE 3/31 Church of St. Edith 9.3.67 G.V. II* Parish church, now closed. Cll, largely rebuilt 1868 by R. T. Withers, with some reused early medieval material. Squared greenstone and ironstone rubble with limestone dressings and slate roofs. Nave with western bellcote, chancel, vestry. The west window is of 2 lights with cusped tracery. The ashlar bellcote has 4 lancets to the base and rises to an octagonal roof. To the north wall is a blocked pointed doorway, a pair of 2 light pointed windows with between a blank round headed opening. The vestry has a shouldered doorway and 2 small lights to east. The east wall of the chancel has a 3 light pointed window with cusped tracery. The south chancel window is of 2 lights with quatrefoil over and the south wall of the nave has a 2 light cusped window, a further blocked round headed opening and a gabled pointed doorway. Interior. Rounded chancel arch has a single square order and the imposts run on to form chamfered string course. To the vestry is a trefoil headed doorway from the chancel. All fittings are C19.
