Post Office and The Village

GV
II

Pair of houses incorporating Post Office. Probably circa early C18 but lack of
evidence makes dating difficult. Rendered cob and rubble walls. Hipped thatch
roof. 2 brick stacks, one axial and one at right gable end.
Plan: each house has 2-room plan. The Village to the left has its right-hand room
heated by an axial stack, the Post Office has its right-hand room heated by an end
stack. The post office itself occupies its left-hand room.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 5-window front of circa early C20 4-pane sashes
apart from a C20 fixed light to the left on the ground floor. The Village has a C20
panelled and glazed door to left of centre and there is a similar door into the
right-hand room of the Post Office to right of centre. C20 shop window at centre
with C20 part-glazed door adjoining to its right.
Interior: exhibits no early features but some may have been concealed.
