BEAFORD SS 51 NE 8/29 Front garden walls approximately - 4 metres to south of Upcott Barton

GV II

Front garden walls. Probably mid C19. Uncoursed stone rubble with red-brick coping. Cast-iron gates. The plain low fencing along the top of the wall is probably a later addition. Wall enclosing front garden of Upcott Barton (q.v.), returning to adjoin the house at the left-hand end. Cast iron pedestrian gate, with dog bars and dog rails, and small cast-iron horse- mounting gate to right, also with dog bars and dog rails and, approached by stone steps to rear. Circular end pier at left-hand end of front wall. Plain wall returning to house. The walls form part of complete farmstead group. The separate horse-mounting gate is unusual.
