- II

Holy well. Established in middle ages, but surviving structure is later C19. Rubble, some yellow brick to steps. Remains of a small walled enclosure, some brick steps down to water level on west end; the whole considerably overgrown (Oct 1988) and outlines difficult to establish. A characteristic survival always referred to as the Holy Well, and giving the name to the adjacent Holwell Farmhouse (q.v.); it is still a spring source of fresh water.
