CLYST ST LAWRENCE SY 09 NW 5/45 Churchyard Cross - GV II

Churchyard cross. C15. The pedestal are built of volcanic stone rubble, the cross is Hamstone ashlar. The pedestal is 2 octagonal steps, the lower one paved with volcanic slabs, the upper one with Hamstone ashlar. The octagonal socket stone is on a low chamfered plinth. Square section and slightly tapering shaft with pinnacled nook shafts on each corner. On top is mounted the much damaged lower portion of a canopy head over an ornamental knop. On the east side is the remains of a canopied niche.
