5/42 Hunt's Locks;
GV II
Paired locks, small lock circa. 1860 and large lock circa. 1890, stone with timber lock-gates on steel frames. The east (small) lock has partly rusticated sides. The west lock has 3 pairs of gates dividing it into 2 lock chambers. Curved wing walls of stone upstream. Pair of steel semaphore signals at each end of locks. Pelton turbines, cast iron bollards. A good and complete example of locks designed to accommodate seagoing ships.
