SW 83 SW MYLOR LITTLE FALMOUTH, Flushing
6/217 Dock
GV II
Dry dock. Circa 1820. Stepped granite ashlar walls. Rectangular-on-plan with open
end at west. Slots in side walls at west end indicate where timber was attached and
baulks of timber fitted between to keep the water out when used as dry dock.
'In 1820 the new tidal Dry dock at Little Falmouth was ready for use. It would be of
great use for the repair of the Packets which often arrived in badly damaged
condition. Time and money could be saved, for the work could be carried out more
speedily'. Extract from THE STORY OF FLUSHING CORNWALL by Ursula Redwood (Lady
Redwood).
