Details

WOOBURN TOWN LANE SU 98 NW 6/193 Nos. 1-5 (consec.), The Old School GV II Former school, converted to 5 houses. 1852, altered c.1980. Flint with stone dressings, slate roofs, stone coped gables with moulded kneelers and ornamental gablets. E-plan, with gabled side wings and small parallel block attached to central spur. Formerly one storey, now with inserted attic storey. Diagonal buttresses, stone mullion windows with pointed arched lights. Main rear range has 4 bays of 2-light windows and C20 skylights. Side wings have tall 3-light windows with hoodmoulds stepped over taller central light, and roundels at apex of each gable. Right wing has main window divided into 2 storeys, and has large board door in left side with ornamental hinges and shallow porch with catslide roof on shaped stone brackets. Right side of this wing has 2 gabled semi-dormers with trefoil lights over altered 2-light windows, and C20 lean-to porch at far end. Left wing is slightly lower and has C20 lean-to extension to left with brick dressings and door in left side. Small central block is of one storey and has gabled feature to centre front with buttress, flanking lancets, and blind trefoil inscribed "Feed my lambs." Link spur has C20 doors in each side, the left in original Caernarvon arch.
