30/59 Red Lion Inn 12/1/67 Red Lion Cottage (Formerly listed as GV Red Lion Inn) II Public House with cottage to left. Dated 1738, on door lintel of public house, with later alterations. Squared rubble; cottage rendered. Concrete-tiled roof with grey brick chimney stacks, Possibly a linear-plan farmstead with cross- passage and byre to right, now a continuous 2-storey, 6-bay front. Ground-floor right bay of cottage pertains to Public House.
4-bay Public House with raised-and-chamfered quoins. Replaced door, in third bay, in slightly-projecting, tooled surround with lintel inscribed : TH 1738. 2 replaced 2-pane sashes in architraves to left; early C20 3-light sash window, horse-tethering ring and blocked doorway to right. Blank bay above doorway flanked by replaced 2-pane sashes, in architraves to left and in projecting surrounds with extended sills to right.
Cottage, of 2 wide bays, with raised-and-chamfered quoins. Late C20 bay window to left of 2 gabled porches. 2 replaced casements above in architraves.
Steeply-pitched roof with swept eaves. Rebuilt end stacks and 3 ridge stacks.
Rear wing to right, late C20 rear additions and gabled porches of cottage section are not of special interest. Cottage included for group value.
