Details

WARLEGGAN SX 16 NE 9/147 Welltown Farmhouse - II Farmhouse, now house. Mid C18, with addition probably of later C18 and few later alterations. Slatestone and granite rubble. Bitumenised slate hipped roof with ridge tiles and stacks to sides; rear wing with gable end and gable end stack. Plan: 2-room plan, central entrance to passage with stair hall to rear in stair tower; kitchen to right and parlour to left, each heated by an end stack. Attached to rear left, probably of late C18, a service wing of 2 storeys, one-room plan, heated by gable end stack. In the angle to the stair tower, to rear right, is an outshut of single storey with loft over an unheated dairy. Exterior: 2 storeys, symmetrical 3-window front; all windows 2-light casements of early C20. Central porch with pitched roof and panelled door. The front slope of the roof is not bitumenised, and the side stacks have rubble shafts with slate weathering. Right side has external stack with curved oven at the base. To right, straight joint to the outshut, with small single casement at ground and first floor, with L hinges at first floor. Rear of the main range has stair tower with hipped roof and 2-light casement at first floor. At the left side, the main range has an external stack. The rear wing has C20 window at upper ground floor level. Inner side of rear wing has small porch with C20 door and pitched roof, rear wing has 2- light casement at ground and first floor. Gable end of the wing has external stack with curved oven at the base. Interior: not accessible.
